All-girls for All Girls: Leading the way for young women - Marian High School

Since its founding in 1955, Marian has been leading the way for young women. Widely recognized for its athletic programs, Marian is producing more than state champions; it is producing confident leaders. No matter what your interests, you will find the support to develop leadership skills in a nurturing, safe and spirited environment at Marian.

Marian is all-girls for ALL girls.  Marian has created a comfortable, welcoming and inclusive atmosphere where every girl can thrive. It is a safe place for a girl to be herself and discover who she is. So what is the formula for success?

Academics first. First and foremost, Marian is academically challenging. Marian offers a comprehensive college prep curriculum that includes 44 honors courses, 15 AP courses, 14 dual enrollment.  A professional, caring faculty know how to teach young women. As a result, 100 percent of graduates continue their education, and in the past three years, percent of the graduates earned merit-based scholarships with an average scholarship amount of $40,000.

The right size. As Nebraska’s only Class A girls’ high school, Marian provides the opportunities of a large high school in a smaller setting. With an average enrollment of 700, Marian has what researchers identify as an optimum enrollment size (600-900), providing stronger student achievement, higher participation among students and a richer curriculum.

Something for everyone. With more than 60 clubs and activities and 22 athletic teams in nine Class A state-sanctioned sports, a Marian girl has endless opportunities to develop her leadership potential, become part of a group, discover who she is, and experience new opportunities.

Facilities for every interest. Marian boasts an impressive facility: A 40-acre, beautifully landscaped campus with a 20,000 square foot performing arts center, a STEM lab, newly renovated chemistry labs, art studios and kilns, computerized physics lab, regulation soccer and softball fields, tennis courts and a track. Last year Marian opened a dedicated academic center located in the heart of the building, along with a new entrance, enlarged chapel, and refreshed halls and classrooms.

Leadership development opportunities. An all-girls environment supports and encourages diverse interests without the social pressures found in a coed environment. At Marian, formal and informal leadership opportunities exist through clubs, student government, athletics, fine arts and campus ministry. Furthermore a leadership training program is available to all students. Students are encouraged to take the lead and develop new programs. In the last few years, Marian students founded several new clubs, such as: Girls 4 Girls, Young Medicine, Kindness Club, Chess Club and Step Club.
