Dance Team Tryouts

Hello! For those of you who do not know us, we are Chelsea and Katie, the Marian Dance Team coaches. We are so excited for the upcoming season, and cannot wait to meet new members and reconnect with returning members. With a new season comes new members and competition. With that in mind, no one is guaranteed a spot, even if you were previously on the team. Auditions are your way to showcase your talent and personality, so bring your A game! Please read through the following information thoroughly and carefully so you don’t miss any details. If you have any questions, you can email either of us. Can’t wait to get started on this season, good luck!
-Chelsea & Katie

    • If you have already filled this sheet out you do not need to again. If you’d like to double check that you have already submitted this, you can email the coaches.
  • Answers to interview questions

      • Why do you want to be a part of Marian’s Dance Team?
      • What do you think makes a unified team?
      • If you were to make the team, what would be your biggest goal for the upcoming season?
      • How has dance impacted your life?
      • How will you be an ambassador for Marian while being a member of Marian’s Dance Team?
  • Please introduce yourself at the start of your video and be wearing solid black athletic attire. This video needs to include the following in this order:
    • Pom Routine – Select one of the two provided pom routines and your choice of (clean) music to best showcase yourself. Email Katie ( and Chelsea ( to receive the videos options. These can only be shared through a Marian or gmail account.
    • Jazz Routine – A one minute routine of improv, past routine or self-choreographed routine with your choice of (clean) music.
    • Technique – This needs to follow your two routines and in order of the judges sheet, you may have music playing in the back for counting purposes and a list in front of you.

Videos need to start and end without pausing. Sending multiple videos, using inappropriate music and/or performing choreography or technique out of order may result in loss of points. Submissions need to be emailed to both coaches: Chelsea ( and Katie ( All submissions will be reviewed by coaches and judges, and scored the same as it would for in person tryouts.

Selected Members:

All applicants will receive an individual email accepting or denying their placement on the team for the upcoming season. This email will be sent by 9 a.m. on April 11, the sooner submissions are sent, the quicker scoring will be. Sending videos before the cutoff at 5 p.m. on April 10 will enable scoring to move quicker, resulting in the announcement being sent sooner. Score sheets/points will not be shared but if dancers have any questions please feel free to email coaches.

There will be a mandatory Zoom meeting on April 15 at 7 p.m. Details about this meeting will be sent out to selected members! If you have a prior commitment please contact your coaches, this meeting will require the presence of the dancer and a parent/guardian.
