Celebrating Crusader Athletes

Marian High School is proud to announce that five student-athletes signed letters of intent to continue their athletic pursuits at the university level. While they have displayed stellar performances on the court and in the pool, their time spent in the classroom and community is just as impressive.

Katy Foley ‘23 will be swimming at the University of Idaho, in Moscow, Idaho, where she plans to study criminology and psychology. A member of GOAL swim club, Katy has been recognized as a NISCA All-American. Out of the pool, Katy participates in Marian recruitment team and big sisters and she volunteers with the Kim Foundation at Boys Town. Katy is the daughter of Mary and Tom Foley.

Payton Kincaid ‘23 will be playing softball at Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska, where she plans to study nursing. Payton was a member of the Class A state champion Crusader softball team. She posted 11 home runs for the season and was named to the all-state second team. Off the field, Payton is a member of the Young Medicine Club, Polar Plunge and Recruitment Team. She also works with young players coaching pitching. Payton is the daughter of Joel and Dawn Kincaid. 

Elsa Jurrens ‘23  is signing to play tennis at Creighton University where she plans to study exercise science on the pre-med track. Elsa is a 3-time varsity captain and a 4-time varsity letter earner. She was the 2022 state runner-up for number one singles. She was also named to Nebraska tennis all-state in 2021, in addition to being a regular season champion. She was awarded the Nebraska Sportsmanship Award by the Nebraska Tennis Association. Off the court, Elsa is president of the Young Medicine Club, a member of National Honor Society, a writer and editor with the Marian Network, and a member of the Quill and Scroll Society. She volunteers with Tennis Buddies. Elsa is the daughter of Traci and Tom Jurrens.

Lauren Mendlick ‘23 is signing to swim at St. Louis University. Although currently undecided, she is considering pre-med studies. Lauren has been named an All-American, All-Academic All-State academic team, and All-Academic All-Metro conference for both swimming and tennis. She is a member of GOAL swim club. When she’s not swimming or studying, Lauren participates in Young Medicine Club, Recruitment Team and Big Sisters, Crusaders Elevating Others, varsity tennis and National Honor Society. She volunteers at Heartland Family Service and Head for the Cure. Lauren is the daughter of Katie and Matt Mendlick.

Brynn Ullerich ‘23 has committed to swim at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, where she intends to study computer science. As a member of Marian swim team, Brynn has lettered both sophomore and junior years.  Out of the pool, she participates in Lolo’s Angels, Polar Plunge, art club and recruitment team. She is also a member of GOAL swim club. Brynn is the daughter of Monica McMahon Ullerich and Brad Ullerich.
