Marian has hired Tom Tvrdy to lead the Crusaders varsity girls basketball program. Tvrdy brings over 30 years of coaching and teaching experience; he most recently served as the varsity girls basketball coach at Seward High School. In his 18 seasons at Seward High, Tvrdy had a record of 470-183 and led the Bluejays to four-straight Class B state titles, 11 district championships and 14 conference championships.
Tvrdy follows Peter Cunningham, who coached at Marian for seven years; five years as varsity coach. He stepped down at the end of the 2021 season to spend more time with family, and he remains a math teacher at Marian.
Marian has a long legacy of athletic excellence. Crusader varsity teams have claimed 66 state titles, 82 metro championships and 14 Omaha World-Herald Sportsmanship Awards. According to Athletic Director Rochelle Rohlfs, Tvrdy will be an excellent fit for the Marian program. “Tom will bring a great deal of knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm to our program. I’m so excited to have a coach of Tom’s caliber join our school and our basketball program,” said Rohlfs.
Welcome, Coach Tvrdy!
