Marian Summer Sampler

Join us at Marian for two weeks of summer camp. Now is the time to try something new! We have sessions dedicated to art and creativity, science, music and athletics.

Build a schedule that works for you. Take a course or two, or fill-up your day. Camps are girls only, grades 4-6 and grades 7-8. All sessions will be taught by a member of Marian’s faculty.

Camp registration will be open until midnight on Friday, July 1. Courses must have a minimum of 5 participants. Full refunds will be made for camps cancelled by Marian. Prior to July 1, withdrawals are eligible for a refund of the camp fee, minus a $10 withdrawal fee. After July 1, no refunds for camp withdrawals will be made without a medical excuse. Camp registrations are non-transferable.

Checkmate! Chess Camp

Yes, girls can become very capable chess players! Learn about the history of the game, the rules, the pieces and how they move, and more! You will be able to compete against other players at school and outside of school. It is the game of a lifetime, and you will always find someone who plays chess, no matter where you are. Learn this awesome strategy game!

Grades 4-6: July 18-22 | 8-10 a.m.

Debate Camp - What's Your Point?

Students will learn the basics of debate, including how to support an argument with evidence and refutation. You’ll also develop your critical thinking and public speaking skills. At the end of camp, students will participate in a Congressional Debate round.

Digital Photography

Young photographers will view, discuss and create images. Instruction time will cover basic concepts such as Rules of Composition, Motion, Lighting, Focus, Perspective, Color and Tone. Areas of focus will include Portrait Photography, Candid Photography, Landscape & Nature Photography and photojournalism. 

Students should bring a camera (it can be a smart phone, a digital point-and-shoot, or a digital SLR).  The school has a few cameras to loan out for student use during the camp.  DO NOT buy a new camera for this camp, let your daughter explore what she already has and sample other options at camp. 

Students will learn how a camera works and basic settings. We’ll teach simple tips to take your photography to the next level.  The final day of camp we’ll  host an open gallery to display our work. Parents, family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate the achievements of each photographer. Showcase photos may also be part of an online gallery.

Exploratory Ceramic Creations

Young potters will be introduced to fundamental handbuilding techniques to create personalized works you’ll  be proud to display at home.The possibilities are endless— we will be making personalized door signs, pinch pot ring bowls, candle holders, mugs & anything else we can fit in! In addition, there will be full access to a Marian Art Studio with all of the wonderful  shapes, textures, tools and all the colors of glaze to make your work really shine.

Paint the Town! Art Camp

Have fun experimenting in Marian’s art studio as you build skills in brush techniques, color mixing and design, while using watercolor, tempera, inks, mixed media and acrylics. This class is for both beginners and more advanced young artists to find and explore their own personal style. Students will receive an amazing art kit that includes a sketchbook, brushes and more.

Pinterest Crafts 101 – Find Your Pinspiration!

We’ll master popular Pinterest crafts and turn everyday objects into works of art. Projects on our to-do list include:  Mason jar organizers, wall decor, string art, yarn ball ornaments, jewelry holder.

Sculpture & Glass - Art Camp

This camp is great for beginning sculptors that want to explore art mediums “in the round.” Students will create several 3 – D projects and gain a better understanding and appreciation of sculpture by exploring polymer clay, glass, plaster and more!

Yes, Uke Can! Ukulele Camp

Put your fingers to the test in this great music camp. Throughout the week, we will be learning the basics of Ukulele including set-up, tuning, chords and notes. Students will learn several short songs to play for friends and family as well as five to 10 chords they can use for many of their favorite songs of today and yesterday. Ukuleles will be provided.

Crazy about Clay - Art Camp

This class is for beginners and more advanced young potters. We will explore the methods of hand building, slab, pinch and slump to create a variety of functional pieces. You will also learn proper glazing techniques as well as ways to create colorful masterpieces without glaze. Artists will have full access to Marian’s pottery studio.

Decorative Door Hangers - Art Camp

A door to your home or room is the first thing people see! Show guests your creative side with a unique door hanger made by you. In this camp, artists will create 2 – 3 door hangers, one personal and one seasonal while learning to create beautiful bows. Students will learn how to use basic power tools safely. (i.e drill, staple gun, etc.)

Drawing Escape - Art Camp

Grab your pencils and prepare for a drawing escape into the world of art! Try your hand at a variety of techniques while using artist-grade materials like Prisma colored pencils and markers, oil pastels, pen and ink. Learn tips and tricks while creating your very own masterpieces in Marian’s art studio. Students will receive an amazing art kit that includes a sketchbook, pencils, erasers and more.

Forensic Science: Marian CSI

Love a good mystery? Use science, like DNA and fingerprinting, to solve a case.  Start with a crime scene and analyze all of your evidence and determine a prime suspect.

Peace, Love & Tie-Dye - Art Camp

Fill your summer with color! Create tie-dye projects with spirals, bursts, mandalas, scrunch, stripes, hearts and more!  Learn to fold, twist, pleat and crumple fabrics for interesting designs.  Students will experience traditional tie-dye techniques using over 50 amazing hues to create 100% cotton T-shirts, tapestries and socks in this exciting and colorful camp! For all artists.

Step Up Your Shoe Game - Art Camp

Explore different works by artists such as Andy Worhol, Keith Haring, Yayoi Kusama and genres like abstract art, pop art, surrealism, graffiti and cartooning in this fun and educational shoe painting camp. We will be designing and creating our own Vans masterpieces. For all artists.
