Three Marian Athletes Sign Letters of Intent - Marian High School

Marian High School is proud to announce that three Crusader student-athletes signed letters of intent today. While they have displayed stellar performances on the court and field, their time spent in the classroom and community is just as impressive.

Grace Bentley ’20 is signing to play softball at Wheaton College. Grace is the daughter of Brian and Kelli Bentley and plans to study on the pre-med track at Wheaton. Grace has lettered twice in her high school softball career. She has been a three-sport athlete here at Marian and was recognized by the Lincoln Journal Star Academic All-State for both tennis and softball. Grace is a member of National Honor Society, National Science Honor Society and CEOs Club. She has served as a retreat leader at Marian and volunteers as a keys player for her church worship band.

Katie Palmer ’20 is signing to play softball at Northern State University. Katie is the daughter of Heather and Glenn Palmer and plans to study criminal justice at Northern State. Katie lettered in softball and was recognized as a NSAA All-State Honorable Mention. She is a member of Sundae Wednesday Club and Spanish Club, and she has spent time volunteering at the Open Door Mission.

Emily Saalfeld ’20 is signing for track and cross country at Northwest Missouri State University. Emily is the daughter of Jeff and Yvonne Saalfeld and plans to study in the medical field at Northwest Missouri State with the goal of working in occupational therapy. Emily has lettered three times in both track and cross country, and she is the recipient of multiple NCPA Academic All-State Awards (three for track, two for cross country). Emily is a member of many academic honors societies, serves as a head EMHC with Campus Ministry and volunteers with the Omaha Police Department.

With the addition of these athletes, the Marian Class of 2020 currently includes 19 students who have signed to play college athletics.
